This afternoon, I recorded two short videos, Take One & Take Two, for my music/video project called The Deconstruction of Bop.
With Take Three, I played a solo over the audio of Take Two, jamming with myself, while listening to myself play Take Two on the computer screen.
The result is a mix of two separate piano performances mixed one on top of the other, both played by myself, Marc-Alexandre Gagnon.
Sometimes it’s difficult to tell which part is which in the duet, which I think adds a layer of fun atop of the whole thing.
Bebop to me is meant to represent the highest of human joys; bop jazz is pure joy & jubilation. It can get nasty at parts, and can oftentimes be very dark, but this piece to me is just fun, fun, fun.
I will be working on this project over the nextl little while, so keep in touch! This is The Deconstruction of Bop. :D
